Still-life portfolio project
When shooting personal work I generally gain inspiration by collecting mental notes of objects from within my immediate environment. Over time, I conceptualise how I’d like to photograph an object if it amuses me. So a lot of my personal work will be single images that were created to stand alone. Oftentimes, a subject will keep my attention and it will evolve, as in the case of the glycerine soap bars you can see here. While shooting light through and defocusing the camera, I couldn’t help but notice the similarities to Rothkos’ paintings. These are just a selection of a few personal images taken throughout last year.
